THe icpu programme....its all about teamwork! Have been a student ambassador for taylors recently...though the word ambassodor may seem somewat super glamorous..its actually means super-kuli. =) Basically, the duties of a student ambassador is to put leaflets into book folders, staple papers togetether, bitch about how the world is unfair and that mrs. jeganathan is earning 20(X) of yur salary.... ..jkg jkg.. Well, of course theres the fun stuff too..like giving campus tours and with the company of my two 'big buddies'..terence and alvin....mann...life without u guys would be so sad,,and i truly mean it!. Anywayz, i have actually notice that the icpu (canadian pre-u prog) in taylors never seems to sell well if compared to the a-level or sam prog. The numbers of icpu has significantly drop FROM 400 OVER STUDENTS TO NOW (Approx) 200 students. The reason why the icpu prog is not doing well is probably as follows: (a) promotion, promotion, promotion =theres not much advertising that has been done to promote our icpu prog. If compared to sunway university-college.....their canadian pre-u prog has actually an average of 800 students a yr. (b) Its probably seen as the lowest grade prog...if compared with a-levels and international baccalerette...okie...this is probably true... (c) The perception of others is that the ICPU prog is only recognized by canadian certs. BUT wat others fail to see is: (a) That ICPU PROG will teach individuals on how to work as a team. TEam play has alwiz been emphasized and students will normally learn on how to deal with the different colorful charaters of many other peeps . (b) The ICPU lecturers never seem to use conventional approaches use by our government schools...which in most ways would develop students to think outside the box...etc etc. One example that i can give was the visit inside a MCDONALDS and BURGER KING kitchen outlet (during my intl business class). We were able to see how the burgers were made, how to coordinate within ur colleageues and how different were these two franchised outlets run. (c) Students in the ICPU are alwiz asked to experiment new things...like never be afraid to experiment yur character or showing a different side of you, and that in life there is never a right or wrong answer. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Its all about team-work,>>>>> Teamwork is the essence of life. BAck in my CPU days, if theres one thing which im an authority, its how to blend the talents and strenghts of individuals into a force that becomes greater than sum of its parts. My driving belief is this: great teamwork is the only way to reach our ultimate moments, to create breakthroughts that define our careers, to fulfil our lives with a sense of lasting significance. To me, all of us are team players, whether we know it or not. Our significance arrives thorugh our vital connections to other people, through all the teams of our lives. FAMILY life is a central team experience. A neighbourhood community action group is a team, and so is congregation. And yeah....study groups too are considered teams. WHICH REMInds ME TO WHAT HAPPENED A few days ago.......... i was talking to a good friend of mine(terence)..i was talking to him about the frustrating element that law students or at least the law students of our class is filled with no peace and that everyday we will alwiz hear classmates bitching about other classmates. Further, there was no real true unity (only two faces). THen it hot onto me that...... TEAMWORK isnt simple. In fact, it can be a frustrating elusive commodity. Thats why tehre are so many bad teams outthere, stuck in neutral or going downhill. team work doeesnt appear magically, just becos someone mouths the words. It doesnt thrive jus becos of the of the rpesence of talent or ambition. it doesnt flourish simply becos a team has tasted success. I have learn from both reading and life experience, at the highest level of competitionn, how to read the signs of potential change and growth within each team and individual. Biographies (of great people) that i have read has illistrated to me taht tehre are common challenges in every team, and every team player , must conquer on their road to significant achievement. Under certain conditions, the dynamics within a team will evolve slowly, gradually and prdictably.Under other circumstances, their changes come like quiksilver. The only certain fact, the one universal constant, is that they must change. When they do, you must be prepared. All teamplayers and team members must be able to lift each other of the team. |
